2017 Cyclo Sportif Series 

Cyclo Sportif is set-up for recreational cyclists looking for knowledge, fun and riding challenges to improve fitness levels and cycling capabilities in an organised, friendly and safe environment.

Teams who participate are from a varied demographic. You could be a bunch of mates, a ‘coffee shop’ group or a business corporate team who want to ride together. If you have people who fit in these groups and want to form a team, then Cyclo Sportif is for you.

Riders of all ability can participate, as day licence permits are included in the entry fee for Non-Cycling Australia members. Otherwise, Cycling Australia members must have a RIDE, Junior (U15, U17 or U19), Masters or Elite RACE Licence.

How does the Cyclo Sportif work?

The concept is very simple. It's a timed teams event with teams (a maximum of ten (10) riders and a minimum of four (4)) challenging the clock over a set distance. Your team leaves from a designated start point together and you ride the distance nominated by your Team Manager (most events will have two or three distances to choose from).

The object of the event is for your team to ride and stay together;

• If one of your team members has a mechanical then all the other team members should stay with that rider while they fix their problem. 
• If you have a ‘slower’ team member, then all team members should drop their speed back, so they all ride together.
• Each rider assists the other rider in their team, eg, the strong riders protect the less experienced riders, but all team members have a role to play in getting to the finish line. 
• Each team will depart the start line at one minute intervals and be provided with an finishing time. 
• When your team crosses the finish line, your last rider's time is the one that is recorded. So the object is to stay together and work as a team.

These events are run with council & SAPOL approval. Corners where traffic may need to be stopped are manned by accredited traffic marshals. Corners where teams need to be advised to turn are manned by corner marshals. Medical personnel are also in attendance during the event.

How do I enter?

1. Nominate a Team Captain to register your team using the 'Register New Team' option
2. Once your Team Captain has registered your team name, your will be able to log in and register as a member of your team using your team’s unique team password (instructions will be emailed to your Team Captain)
3. Your Team Captain will be able to view your Team online to see who has or has not entered a Round
