First Aid Courses 2017

Please read before registering.

We are pleased to be able to offer the Canberra cycling community access to a First Aid course, with a request to focus on cycling related skills. Places are limited so be quick!

Registration closes Wednesday 8 February 2017(unless booked out earlier).

Where: ACT Sports House, 100 Maitland Street, Hackett ACT 2602

When: 6:00-10:00pm Monday 13 February and 6:00-10:00pm Wednesday 15 February 2017

Cost: $120/pp (unless you have received a special invite from Pedal Power to attend as a volunteer at no cost)

What: This course includes an online component and 2 workshops.  The online component must be completed prior to the workshops.

Course content: Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), Common Sporting Injuries, Medical Conditions, Bleeding & Skin Injuries and more.

Course duration: 4-8 hours (e-learning) PLUS two 4 hour practical workshops

Please note: It is essential that students successfully complete the online course prior to attending the practical workshop. You must be available to attend both in-class sessions on the dates provided above. First Aid and First Aid Reaccreditation are the same course, the only difference is the students do not receive a First Aid Manual in the Reaccreditation course, assuming they have received one in a previous course.

This course has been designed to equip people in the sporting industry with the practical skills and knowledge to prevent and manage injuries, requesting a focus on cycling specific skills. This course is ideal as a first time first aid or refresher course. A Statement of Attainment will be issued upon successful completion of the course for HLTAID003 (Provide First Aid).

The Apply First Aid Blended Learning Program enables students to learn the fundamental principles of first aid at their own pace, through an online training resource. The knowledge is then consolidated and assessed across two practical sessions.
