Under 16 NSW Metro State Team Trials

Baseball NSW is pleased to announce that registrations are open for the NSW U16 Metro National Youth Championship Team Trials.


The State Representative team will compete in the U16 National Youth Championships to be held at Blacktown International Sports Park from January 5-14, 2018. The approximate cost of participating will be $2800-3000.


To be eligible to trial for this age category, players must meet the following criteria:

“Competing players must be under the specified age for the particular program being staged at 31st December of the preceding year (2017). EXAMPLE: Under 16 player who turns 16 on 31st December 2017 is not eligible, whereas a player who turns 16 on January 1st, 2018 is eligible for the Under 16 NYC.”

The trials will be conducted at Blacktown International Sports Park (Field 2) on the following dates:

Monday September 4, 2017 – Data Collation (Part A)
Wednesday September 6, 2017 – Data Collation (Part A)
Monday September 11, 2017 – Baseball Skills Assessment (Part A)
Wednesday September 13, 2017 – Baseball Skills Assessment (Part A)
Monday September 18, 2017 – Baseball Skills Assessment
Wednesday September 20, 2017 – Baseball Skills Assessment
Monday September 25, 2017 (If needed)
Wednesday September 27, 2017 (if needed)

Players will need to wear full baseball uniform (former state representation apparel will not be allowed) and provide their own equipment to take part in the trials.


Please be aware that players who are deemed unsuccessful by Team Coaching Staff in conjunction with BNSW High Performance Staff maybe cut after PART A of the selection process which concludes after the trial conducted on Wednesday September 13, 2017.

BNSW anticipates the team will be finalised by the October Long Weekend, 2017. This may be delayed if the trial schedule is affected by wet weather/cancellations.


Please note: Successful players will be expected to make themselves available for 2 or 3 practice sessions per week until the beginning of the NYC as well as any practice games as organised by team coaching staff.  

Pleas also note that unsuccessful players may also be nominated as potential Friendship players to represent NSW Country during the 2018 NYC.
