Australia's Premiere Junior Tour

The Peter Blackshaw Real Estate Canberra Junior & Women's Tour is Australia's premiere tour for junior cyclists as well as a prestegious state-level event for elite & aspiring women cyclists. In 2018, the event will be raced on closed roads*, varying terrain, and of course Canberra's world-class purpose-built criterium circuit. A full race convoy will travel with each age group, making the racing safe, professional and fair for all competitors. CJWT is always hotly contested between riders from around Australia and New Zealand.

Stage 1: Road Race (hilly)
Uriarra | Saturday 28th April 2018
Course Description:
The Tour heads back to the Uriarra hills for the first road stage of 2018 after being left out of the 2017 edition. The revised Uriarra route offers a progressively challenging course for each step up in age group. The 2018 course will go 3km deeper into Uriarra Forest than the 2016 edition, taking in some of the ACT's most scenic terrain on modest climbs, which will decide the King/Queen-of-the-Mountains Classifications. The U9, U11 & the Participation categories will be raced on the purpose-built criterium circuit at Stromlo Forest Park.

Stage 2: Criterium
Uriarra | Saturday 28th April 2018
Course Description:
Canberra's purpose-built, closed-environment criterium circuit will host Stage 2 of the 2018 Tour (Stage 1 for U19 & Elite Women). In 2018, all age groups will now race on the full 1.25km length of the circuit**. This stage will also be the first chance for the U15+ age groups to grab the Sprint Classification Jersey.

U9: 10mins + 1 Lap
U11: 12mins + 2 Laps
U13: 15mins + 2 Laps
U15: 20mins + 2 Laps
U17: 30mins + 2 Laps
U19M:40mins + 2 Laps

Stage 3: Road Race (flat)
Sunday 29th April 2018
Course Description:
Offering something for every type of rider, the 2nd road stage of 2018 Tour will be a stark contrast to the first. Almost perfectly flat terrain will suit the breakaway specialist / time trialist as well as being the deciding stage in the Sprint Classification (new in 2018).

Course Description:
Flat time-trial courses are rare in Canberra, and the 2018 ITT course will be a chance for the pure time trialist to shine, and claw back time in the General Classification and Young Rider Classification.

To enter the racing categories of the 2018 Peter Blackshaw Real Estate Canberra Junior & Women's Tour, a Cycling Australia Race License is required (purchase here) and you will need your Cycling Australia login details. This is not required for the the Participation Category. Your login details are sent to you via email upon purchasing your Cycling Australia membership. If you have lost your password, contact Cycling Australia, or your state federation.
Participation Category
The Participation Category is for youngsters who want to give the event a go, or just have fun with other kids on the weekend, but who are not yet old enough to race in Under 9's. For 2018, Under 9's is made up of those born in 2010, turning 8 in 2018.. Children with Y.O.B. 2011-2015 may enter the Participation category. All Participants must be able to ride a bike with two wheels (only) as no trainer wheels are permitted in the event. Disc Brakes
Bikes with disc brakes will be permitted in all categories of the Canberra Junior & Women's Tour.
