Level 3 Performance Development Coach course - Middle and Long Distance - October 12 AND 13

Level 3 Performance Development Coach Course (Day 3 and Day 4) MIDDLE AND LONG DISTANCE -
Saturday, October 12 & Sunday, October 13.

The Level 3 Performance Development Coach course is for coaches who are working with athletes between 15 and 21 years of age and are looking to commence specialisation in a chosen event group and compete at regional, state or national-level competitions. 

The course aims to empower coaches to design and lead effective training programs based on peer-reviewed evidence and the knowledge and experience from leading Australian coaches. The focus of the course will be on planning and achieving long-term development of athlete performance, with an eye for establishing positive training habits that will prepare athletes for the elite pathway.

Eligibility: 

  • Coaches who are currently financial with Athletics Australia & have held Level 2 Club Coach Accreditation for a minimum of 6 months.
  • Coaches that have completed Day 1 and Day 2 of the Level Performance Development Coach Course.

How does a coach transition from Level 2 Advanced Event Group Specfic (AEGS) accreditation to the Level 3 accreditation in their current event group?

  • Attend Day 2: Strength and Conditioning Modules (exemption: individuals are to submit their current Level 1 or above ASCA accreditation).
  • Complete, submit and be assessed as competent in the event group specific post course assessment tasks (If a coach is assessed as not yet competent, they will be required to attend the Event Group Specific Days 3 & 4).

How does a coach transition from Level 2 AEGS accreditation to Level 3 accreditation in a new event group?

  • Attend Day 2: Strength and Conditioning Modules (exemption: submit current Level 1 or above ASCA accreditation)
  • Attend Days 3 & 4 in the new Event Group
  • Complete, submit and be assessed as competent in the event group specific post course assessment tasks

Post-Course Work:

All participants are required to complete the following requirements to gain and maintain their coaching accreditation.

  • Online Modules (Anatomy and Biomechanics, Coaching Process, Nutrition, Sports Psychology, Sports Safety, Planning and Physiology)
  • Coaching Self-Reflection
  • Post-Course Assessment Task (Part A: Short Answer, Part B: Scenario Response, Part C: Programming)
