Fees: Member (or intending member) of Mairangi Bay SLSC for the 2019/20 season: $50

Member of another Club: $120*

The course covers everything that you need to know to pass the exam. Please note that swimming is not taught. You should be doing your own swim training to enable you to pass the 400 meter pool swim in 9 minutes and the 200 meter run swim run at the beach on the day of the exam.  The time for this is 8 minutes. You will be asked for your most recent time for a 400m pool swim on registration and you will be tested on this in week 2 of the course.  For non-confident swimmers we do offer a Patrol Support option where no swimming is required.  You would participate in all other course work and activities.  Please indicate on your entry form if this is of interest to you.

You are required to attend each session in order to complete the course work and workbook and be prepared for your exam.  Pool sessions for inital assessment and for the pool exam are also compulsory for those sitting their ful lifeguard award, and we will confirm the dates and times for these at your first session.

*Please note it is a requirement that you are a member of a Surf Lifesaving Club and registered with SLSNZ to undertake the Surf Lifeguard Award course.  If you have not been a club member before, you will need to apply to SLSNZ for membership using this link.  Your SLSNZ membership will need to be approved by the club you are joining/belong to.  You will need to be a current financial member of that club to have your SLSNZ application approved.
