John Burton was one of the founding members of Kidman Archers.
John was a Life Member of ARCHERY SA and Kidman Archers.
John was involved in archery from the 1950s, He held various positions within Kidman Archers, including President.
Within ARCHERY SA John was always an interested and passionate supporter of promoting the sport. He was a National Judge for 15 years, Editor of The Bow Press in its early days and was President for 6 years. John was one of the pioneers who made archery in SA what it is today.
He was ARCHERY SA's inaugural (part-time) CEO
He was bestowed an Archery Australia Bronze Plaquette Award in 1989, recognising his significant service to archery and SA.
DATE - Saturday 4th April 2020
LOCATION - Kidman Archers West Beach
TIME - Arrival 12 noon for a BBQ and Salad Lunch. Shoot to start at 1:30pm
ENTRY FEE - $25 which includes BBQ and Salad Lunch (drinks available for purchase on the day)
MAX 36 shooters (3 per target)
BOW TYPE - Compound, Recurve, Longbow and Target Crossbow
ROUND - Mebourne (Compound, Recurve, Longbow) X-Melbourne (Target Crossbow)
Winner of the John Burton Memorial trophie will be the Archer who has the best Handicap improvment from their current Handicap as per Archers Diary. If no one improves then the Archer who's rating on the day is the closest to their Handicap.
In the event of a Tie then the archer with the Highest Handicap will be the winner.
