Event History

2016 marked the 100th year since the inaugural swim between the Henley and Grange jetties with the first swim being held in 1917. The swim was originally known as the Henley to Grange Long Swim conducted by the Henley Beach Swimming Club and has become an iconic Australia Day event.

Masters swimmers began competing in 1983 and Masters Swimming took over management of the event in 2002 when it was named the Australia Day Jetty to Jetty Long Swim. It remains an important Australia Day event.
